It was a big day in Kansas City on Thursday. Both good and bad. The good was that ace starter Zack Greinke finally picked up a victory, his first of the season.
The National League West has been a bit of a surprise so far in April. The San Diego Padres have gotten off to a hot start with great pitching and timely hitting.
Monday was a day for runs to be scored, as lots of runs were put up on the board throughout baseball. Last week, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the host Pittsburgh Pirates 20-0 and battered the Pirates throughout that series.
In Tampa, the Rays won the series against the Toronto Blue Jays as they took the final game 6-0. Rays left-handed starter David Price was stellar as he pitched a complete game shutout.
The San Diego Padres are now the hottest team in baseball. On Saturday night, the Padres again shut out the home team Cincinnati Reds for their eighth straight victory.
The KC Royals bullpen yet again wasted a perfectly good outing from ace Zack Greinke. Greinke pitched seven innings and allowed two runs (on an Alex Gonzalez homerun) on two hits while striking out eight.
